Established by the revolutionary legend Gabrielle Coco Chanel, the luxury fashion house has been a long-standing icon in the ever-evolving industry. The luxurious brand is known for its simplistic elegant pieces that stand the test of time. Coco's signature pieces such as tweed suit skirts and quilted handbags still remain as the centerpieces of the brand. However, another significant figure, Karl Lagerfeld, has worked his magic onto the brand by adding personality to CHANEL. His touch of edginess, humor, fantasy, sexines and sophistication is obvious at each collection; every year, Lagerfeld pushes the industry with his fusion of fantasy with timeless fashion pieces.
Karl Lagerfeld took CHANEL on a vacation to the relaxing beachside at Grand Palais in Paris. Or, more accurately, a stunning man-made location consisting of a boardwalk, white sands and splashing waves. Models walked barefoot along the blue waters with colorful flat sandals in hand. This season, bold accessories stole the show. Oversized crystal necklaces spelling 'CHANEL' and CC marks on the plexi footwear and quilted shoulder bags. The French fashion house even introduced a new twist to the logo trend: split-up 'CHA' and 'NEL', which came in forms of mega-sized earrings, straw hats and cropped white shirts. Clothes were kept to light pastels and airy blacks, in laid-back, oversized silouhettes and flowy dresses. Even leggings made appearances. The classic tweed was transformed into deep-V blazers, boxy suits, relaxed shirt dresses and summery set-ups. Other stand-out pieces include geographic patterened swimsuits, lightweight cover-ups and bags in shape of beach volleyballs.

All aboard the La Pausa...! Summer has arrived early in the world of CHANEL, where Karl Lagerfeld introduced a nautical-themed collection in his 2019 Resort show. Mostly sticking to traditional white, blue, red and black theme, with an occasional bright coral and turquoise thrown in, models strut the runway in sea-friendly Mary Jane flats, berets, flowy dresses and striped wide-legged pants. Although leaning on more casual than formal, the brand still managed to incorporate its elegant tweed material into round-shoulder two-piece sets, plaid jackets and mini dresses. With accessories, the brand didn't hold back; models wore colorful logo cuffs, layered necklaces and pendants and sea-inspired mini bags. A black and white vanity bag also made an appearance, an item that will definitely be quickly sold-out.
Taking place in a dark and cozy forest with 12 bare trees and damp leaves under the feet, the Autumn/Winter collection was in one word, Karl Lagerfeld fashion with a romantic 80's twist. Colors included blacks, burnt metallics, mustard yellows, pinks and blues; all in all, a much more wearable and practical collection than the previous bright PVC items. Puffer jackets, capes and tweed coats were in long, slim silhouettes, combined with patina gold flat boots and sparkly grey/black tights. Every item had an element of added detail, such as leather-trimming on tweed, high-neck collars, double-layer shoulder detail and balloon sleeves. Accessories were also key this season from the Madonna-esque pink fingerless gloves and mega-sized jewelry to oversized clutch bags.
Set in the extraordinary recreation of the Gorges du Verdon, a fine mixture of 80's shoulder pads with a modern touch of PVC took over the runway. Color palette was soft, feminine pastels taking inspiration from blossoming spring flowers, shown on extravagent yet romantic silhouettes such as tulip-shaped skirts, tulle gowns and floral bouquet headpieces. Present at the show were Korean icons G-Dragon and Park Shin Hye. The K-POP star became an ambassador in 2016 after catching the brand's attention by rocking womenswear pieces from CHANEL in an edgy, yet androgynous outfits.
From long-time favorite signature collections to newer additions to the family adorned by younger generations, there is bound to be a perfect CHANEL line for everybody.
