Fashion came naturally to this New York-born designer whose mother was a model, and who, at a young age, had already transformed his parent’s basement into his own little clothing boutique. Michael Kors later went on to officially establish his namesake company in 1981. And before long, his line was selling in America’s highest-end luxury goods department stores—Bergdorf Goodmans, Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Michael Kors became the 'it' designer for intelligent, elegant, chic women everywhere. He was also named the first women's RTW designer for French fashion house Celine (1997-2003), and in 2002, Kors launched his own menswear line. In 2004 the world got to know Kors’ congenial demeanour beyond his designs—as he was assigned permanent position as judge on America's hit TV show Project Runway. From RTW, to sportswear, to footwear, handbags, jewellery, fragrances and more—producing timeless glamour, sportswear-couture, and a total New York chicness... Michael Kors is a great American fashion hero.
